Capping Prevention Solutions
with Ceolus™ High-Perfomance MCC
Minimize Capping Risks in High-Dose and Poorly Compactible Formulations
Why Choose Ceolus™ MCC for Capping Prevention?
- Enhances Tablet Integrity: Helps reduce capping and improve tablet hardness without the need for excessive compression force.
- Optimized Compactibility: Offers superior binding properties to support robust tablet formation.
- Proven Performance: Effectively used in a range of challenging formulations.
1. Capping Prevention – High-Dose Tablets
Formulations containing poorly compactible or high-dose APIs are more prone to capping. Conventional MCC grades may not provide the necessary compactibility, which can result in weaker tablets and higher friability.
Solution: Ceolus™ KG
Highly compactible Ceolus™ KG improves the tablet's binding properties, reducing the risk of capping and helping to ensure stronger tablets.
Formulation Example
Ceolus™ KG achieved higher tablet hardness and lower tablet friability than other materials.
All tablets without Ceolus™ KG were broken during the friability test due to inherent capping tendency.

2. Capping Prevention – Extra Addition of MCC
When tableting poorly compactible granules, achieving the desired tablet hardness often requires high compression forces, increasing the risk of capping.
Solution: Extra Addition of Ceolus™ KG-1000
Adding a small amount of highly compactible Ceolus™ KG-1000 significantly enhances binding ability, allowing for effective capping prevention at lower compression forces.
Formulation Example
Ceolus™ KG-1000 achieved the highest tablet hardness and the lowest tablet friability.
Other formulations showed high tablet friability at 12 kN due to capping.
